NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans Saints right guard Jahri Evans is a big fan of Ndamukong Suh's. But he also thinks the Lions' star defensive tackle is dirty and has hurt himself with overly aggressive play.

"I think some of the things he does is dirty, after the whistle," Evans said Tuesday after practice. "He needs to put a cap on that because I think he's a phenomenal player. I think it's taken a toll where people are looking for him and expecting it to happen. ...

"But I think he's a good player. Guy plays hard, guy plays fast and I'm looking forward to playing against him."

Evans, a two-time All-Pro, will spend most of Saturday night's wild-card playoff game trying to keep Suh in check. Suh missed the Lions' game in December at New Orleans while serving his two-game suspension, and Evans is eager to measure himself against one of the NFL's best tackles.

"It is what it's all about," he said. "You want to play against good athletes. You want to test yourself and see where you stand against other people, and that's just the nature of the game."

Evans didn't shortchange the Lions' other young tackle, either, and he's clearly preparing for a challenge.

"I think Nick Fairley is real good, too," Evans said of the rookie who had three tackles and a sack in the December meeting. "He's somebody that I didn't even expect to be that good. That big, that powerful -- I think he played well, too. I just imagine how all those guys healthy and playing together are going to be.
